Chonburi announces 1,320 new and confirmed cases of Covid-19 and two new deaths

Highlights:

  • 1,320 new confirmed cases of Covid-19 in Chonburi today

  • 1,831 positive ATK (rapid antigen) tests were reported but all require a second confirmed PCR test before being counted as official cases. The ATK positive tests are just "possible" cases until confirmed by PCR.
  • 926 (PCR) and 1,116 (ATK) recovered and were released from medical care

  • Two new deaths

The Chonburi Department of Public Health announced 1,320 new and confirmed cases of Covid-19 today with two new deaths, March 4th, 2022.

This makes a total of 45,047 cases (PCR) and 35,542 cases (ATK) of Covid-19 in the current round of infections, with 12,979 (PCR) and 15,426 (ATK) people still under medical care/supervision, and with a total of 55 recorded deaths in Chonburi since the start of this recent round of infections at the beginning of this year, January 2022.

Additionally, 926 (PCR) and 1,113 (ATK) people were also released and recovered yesterday in Chonburi. 32,013 (PCR) and 20,116 (ATK) people in total have now been released from medical care and recovered in Chonburi since this current wave of Covid-19 began at the beginning of this year, January 2022.

Five people were listed as being in serious condition in Chonburi currently, either on a ventilator or pneumonia. Three of them were not vaccinated. According to the Chonburi Department of Public Health, the vast majority of recent cases are mild or asymptomatic, 99.2% percent in total.

The two new deaths were at the age of 63 and 89 with personal health problems and pre-existing conditions. One of them was not vaccinated.

In total, 1,987,888 people in Pattaya and Chonburi have received their first dose of a Covid -19 vaccine which is 85.35 percent of the total Chonburi population. Of those, 304,999 have received their first dose and are what the Thai government calls 608 groups (elders, have chronic health problems, and pregnant) which is 82.45 percent of those in these risk groups in Chonburi.

823,697 people have received their triple dose which is 35.37 percent of the total Chonburi population. Of those, 140,171 are 608 groups which is 37.89 percent of those in these risk groups in Chonburi.

The district-level new cases were as follows today:

Mueang Chonburi 201, Si Racha 453, Banglamung (Pattaya) 367, Panat Nikhom 10, Sattahip 71, Ban Bueng 38, Phan Thong 72, ฺBor Thong 9, Ko Chan 9, Nong Yai 12, Ko Si Chang 1, and 77 people transferred from other provinces for medical care.

The details on the cases are as follows:

  2. Cluster, INOAC Automotive company in Mueang Chonburi, 7 cases
  3. Cluster Mitsubishi Electric Consumer Products company in Mueang Chonburi, 4 cases
  4. Cluster, Fujitsu General company in Si Racha, 6 cases
  5. Risky occupations meeting many people, 36 cases
  6. 14 medical personnel
  7. 5 back from other provinces from Bangkok (1), Chanthaburi (1), Chainat (1), Sisaket (1), and Nongkhai (1)
  8. Close contacts from previously confirmed cases in families – 245 cases, in workplaces –148 cases, close personal contacts – 154 cases, and joined a party – 5 case
  9. Close contacts of a confirmed patient (under investigation), 61 cases
  10. 586 cases close contacts of a confirmed patient (under investigation)
