Chonburi announces 888 new and confirmed cases of Covid-19 and seven new deaths

Highlights:

  • 888 new confirmed cases of Covid-19 in Chonburi today

  • 3,307 positive ATK (rapid antigen) tests were reported but all require a second confirmed PCR test before being counted as official cases. The ATK positive tests are just "possible" cases until confirmed by PCR. TPN notes, however, that second confirmed tests are no longer mandatory except for high-risk groups.
  • 1,126 (PCR) and 2,034 (ATK) recovered and were released from medical care

  • Seven new deaths

The Chonburi Department of Public Health announced 888 new and confirmed cases of Covid-19 today with seven new deaths, March 15th, 2022.

This makes a total of 56,582 cases (PCR) and 64,653 cases (ATK) of Covid-19 in the current round of infections, with 10,373 (PCR) and 27,128 (ATK) people still under medical care/supervision, and with a total of 100 recorded deaths in Chonburi since the start of this recent round of infections at the beginning of this year, January 2022.

Additionally, 1,197 (PCR) and 1,749 (ATK) people were also released and recovered yesterday in Chonburi. 41,252 (PCR) and 29,740 (ATK) people in total have now been released from medical care and recovered in Chonburi since this current wave of Covid-19 began at the beginning of this year, January 2022.

One person was listed as being in serious condition in Chonburi currently, either on a ventilator or pneumonia. The person was not vaccinated. According to the Chonburi Department of Public Health, the vast majority of recent cases are mild or asymptomatic, 99.3% percent in total.

The seven new deaths were at the age of 48 to 97 with personal health problems and pre-existing conditions. ฺFive of them were not vaccinated.

In total, 2,010,682 people in Pattaya and Chonburi have received their first dose of a Covid -19 vaccine which is 86.33 percent of the total Chonburi population. Of those, 305,912 have received their first dose and are what the Thai government calls 608 groups (elders, have chronic health problems, and pregnant) which is 82.69 percent of those in these risk groups in Chonburi.

879,958 people have received their triple dose which is 37.78 percent of the total Chonburi population. Of those, 154,614 are 608 groups which are 41.79 percent of those in these risk groups in Chonburi.

The district-level new cases were as follows today:

Mueang Chonburi 173, Si Racha 283, Banglamung (Pattaya) 180, Panat Nikhom 15, Sattahip 38, Ban Bueng 58, Phan Thong 65, ฺBor Thong 11, Ko Chan 5, Nong Yai 1, Ko Si Chang 2, and 57 people transferred from other provinces for medical care.

The details on the cases are as follows:

  1. Work and stayed in Rayong, transferred from other provinces for medical care, 43 cases
  2. Risky occupations meeting many people, 17 cases
  3. 20 medical personnel
  4. 5 back from other provinces from Bangkok (1), Nakhon Ratchasima (1), Pathum Thani (1), Samut Sakorn (1), and Surin (1)
  5. Close contacts from previously confirmed cases in families – 161 cases, in workplaces –70 cases, close personal contacts – 41 cases, and joined a party – 1 case
  6. Close contacts of a confirmed patient (under investigation), 41 cases
  7. 489  cases of close contacts of a confirmed patient (under investigation)
