Chonburi announces 1,126 new and confirmed cases of Covid-19 and two new deaths

Highlights:

  • 1,126 new confirmed cases of Covid-19 in Chonburi today

  • 2,024 positive ATK (rapid antigen) tests were reported but all require a second confirmed PCR test before being counted as official cases. The ATK positive tests are just "possible" cases until confirmed by PCR.
  • 1,369 (PCR) and 1,399 (ATK) recovered and were released from medical care

  • Two new deaths

The Chonburi Department of Public Health announced 1,126 new and confirmed cases of Covid-19 today with two new deaths, March 5th, 2022.

This makes a total of 46,173 cases (PCR) and 37,577 cases (ATK) of Covid-19 in the current round of infections, with 12,734 (PCR) and 16,062 (ATK) people still under medical care/supervision, and with a total of 57 recorded deaths in Chonburi since the start of this recent round of infections at the beginning of this year, January 2022.

Additionally, 1,369 (PCR) and 1,399 (ATK) people were also released and recovered yesterday in Chonburi. 33,382 (PCR) and 21,515 (ATK) people in total have now been released from medical care and recovered in Chonburi since this current wave of Covid-19 began at the beginning of this year, January 2022.

Seven people were listed as being in serious condition in Chonburi currently, either on a ventilator or pneumonia. All of them were not vaccinated. According to the Chonburi Department of Public Health, the vast majority of recent cases are mild or asymptomatic, 99.2% percent in total.

The two new deaths were at the age of 57 with personal health problems and pre-existing conditions. One of them was not vaccinated.

In total, 1,991,405 people in Pattaya and Chonburi have received their first dose of a Covid -19 vaccine which is 85.50 percent of the total Chonburi population. Of those, 305,134 have received their first dose and are what the Thai government calls 608 groups (elders, have chronic health problems, and pregnant) which is 82.48 percent of those in these risk groups in Chonburi.

833,292 people have received their triple dose which is 35.78 percent of the total Chonburi population. Of those, 141,862 are 608 groups which is 38.35 percent of those in these risk groups in Chonburi.

The district-level new cases were as follows today:

Mueang Chonburi 282, Si Racha 315, Banglamung (Pattaya) 223, Panat Nikhom 16, Sattahip 80, Ban Bueng 36, Phan Thong 87, ฺBor Thong 5, Ko Chan 7, Nong Yai 2, and 73 people transferred from other provinces for medical care.

The details on the cases are as follows:

  2. Cluster, Essilor Optical Laboratory company in Phan Thong, 6 cases
  3. Cluster, Usui International Corporation company in Phan Thong, 4 cases
  4. Cluster, Inoac Automotive company in Mueang Chonburi, 5 cases
  5. Cluster, Vanda Pac company in Mueang Chonburi, 4 cases
  6. Risky occupations meeting many people, 47 cases
  7. 28 medical personnel
  8. 12 back from other provinces from Chachoengsao (2), Bangkok(1), Trat (1), Chiang Rai (1), Nakhon Si Thammarat (1), Phuket (1), Lopburi (1), Samut Songkram, (1), and Ubon Ratchathani (1)
  9. Close contacts from previously confirmed cases in families – 218 cases, in workplaces –155 cases, close personal contacts – 55 cases, and joined a party – 6 case
  10. Close contacts of a confirmed patient (under investigation), 61 cases
  11. 473 cases close contacts of a confirmed patient (under investigation)
