Highlights:
1,225 new confirmed cases of Covid-19 in Chonburi today
- 6,468 positive ATK (rapid antigen) tests were reported but all require a second confirmed PCR test before being counted as official cases. The ATK positive tests are just "possible" cases until confirmed by PCR. TPN notes, however, that second confirmed tests are no longer mandatory except for high-risk groups.
- 1,229 (PCR) and 6,871 (ATK) recovered and were released from medical care
- Two new deaths
The Chonburi Department of Public Health announced 1,225 new and confirmed cases of Covid-19 today with two new deaths, on April 8th, 2022.
This makes a total of 87,911 cases (PCR) and 208,676 cases (ATK) of Covid-19 in the current round of infections, with 12,962 (PCR) and 66,972 (ATK) people still under medical care/supervision, and with a total of 167 recorded deaths in Chonburi since the start of this recent round of infections at the beginning of this year, January 2022.
Additionally, 1,129 (PCR) and 6,871 (ATK) people were also released and recovered yesterday in Chonburi. 74,782 (PCR) and 141,704 (ATK) people in total have now been released from medical care and recovered in Chonburi since this current wave of Covid-19 began at the beginning of this year, January 2022.
Four people were listed as being in serious condition in Chonburi currently, either on a ventilator or with pneumonia. Two of them were not vaccinated. According to the Chonburi Department of Public Health, the vast majority of recent cases are mild or asymptomatic at 99.735 percent.
The two new deaths were aged 44, and 90 with severe personal health problems and pre-existing conditions. Both of them were not vaccinated.
In total, 2,054,288 people in Pattaya and Chonburi have received their first dose of a Covid -19 vaccine which is 88.20 percent of the total Chonburi population. Of those, 307,883 have received their first dose and are what the Thai government calls 608 groups (elders, have chronic health problems, and pregnant) which is 83.23 percent of those in these risk groups in Chonburi.
962,373 people have received their triple dose which is 41.32 percent of the total Chonburi population. Of those, 171,388 are 608 groups which are 46.33 percent of those in these risk groups in Chonburi.
The district-level new cases were as follows today:
Mueang Chonburi 251, Si Racha 286, Banglamung (Pattaya) 333, Panat Nikhom 13, Sattahip 101, Ban Bueng 55, Phan Thong 85, ฺBor Thong 15, Ko Chan 5, Nong Yai 3, and 78 people transferred from other provinces for medical care.

- Work and stayed in Rayong, transferred from other provinces for medical care, 62 cases
- Cluster, Mitsubishi Consumer company in Mueang Chonburi, 3 cases
- Cluster, Toyodo Gosei comapny in Phan Thong, 3 cases

- 34 medical personnel
- 5 back from other provinces in Saraburi (3), Bangkok, and Ubon Ratchathani
- Close contacts from previously confirmed cases in families – 275 cases, in workplaces –73 cases, close personal contacts – 59 cases, and 1 joined party
- Close contacts of a confirmed patient (under investigation), 31 cases
- 638 cases of close contacts with a confirmed patient (under investigation)
