SRI RACHA, Chonburi– On May 21st, 2026, at approximately 8:30 a.m., Pol. Col. Napasphong Khosit Suriyamanee, Commander of the Chonburi Immigration Bureau, led more than 50 immigration officers in a joint operation with officers from Bo Win Police Station. The team raided a large condominium complex consisting of 10 buildings located in Moo 3.
The operation was conducted in accordance with the Royal Thai Police’s nationwide policy to suppress illegal foreign labor and immigration violations within the Kingdom of Thailand.
During the inspection, officers focused on verifying accommodation registration documents and the legal status of foreign residents, specifically checking compliance with Section 38 of the Immigration Act B.E. 2522. This section requires homeowners, property owners, occupiers, or hotel managers to notify immigration authorities within 24 hours of a foreigner taking up residence.
Initial checks revealed that more than 100 Chinese nationals had allegedly violated the law by failing to have their accommodations properly reported within the stipulated timeframe. Authorities issued on-the-spot fines of 2,000 baht per person in accordance with legal procedures. It wasn’t immediately clear if the property owner/landlord was fined or the Chinese tenants.
Officers noted that a total of over 700 Chinese nationals were residing across the 10-building complex. Further detailed investigations are ongoing to determine the exact number of violators and to establish whether any are involved in illegal employment or other related offenses. Official results of the expanded probe will be released in due course.
This raid forms part of continued efforts by Thai immigration authorities to enforce accommodation notification rules and maintain order regarding foreign residents in the eastern seaboard region.
